High Country Indulgence

Flock Hill Lunch and Heli Tour

Take off from Christchurch and soar west toward the majestic Southern Alps. Watch the landscape shift from cityscape to dramatic peaks, deep valleys and pristine alpine rivers before touching down at the award winning Flock Hill Lodge, a 36,000 acre high country station offering a selection of curated activities for guests/visitors to partake in and an authentic gourmet dining experience at their onsite restaurant Sugarloaf.

On arrival at Flock Hill, check in for your onsite activity. Choose from one of the following:

ACTIVITY CHOICES

  • Farm Tour – Explore behind the scenes of Flockhill’s 36,000-acre high-country station, where you’ll meet our dogs, muster sheep, explore the rugged landscape, and gain a true sense of life on the land.
  • Guided Hike – Explore Flockhill’s vast alpine landscapes across breathtaking trails rich in history, wildlife, and panoramic views.
  • Guided Bike – Discover more of Flockhill’s sweeping high-country terrain on an e-bike adventure, combining the thrill of riding with the ease of electric assistance.
  • Clay Bird Shooting – Test your aim against the Southern Alps backdrop while clay discs soar through the air and you line up for the perfect shot. A social activity for beginners to experts, minimum age of 13.

Alternatively, if you wish to just dine for lunch, please let us know on enquiry.

After your activity, be welcomed to Sugarloaf Restaurant, where every dish tells the story of the land it comes from. Much of the produce is grown just metres away in the station’s extensive gardens or foraged from the surrounding high country, with gardeners tending more than 30 varieties of fruit, from alpine strawberries to miniature orchard trees, alongside vegetables, herbs and edible flowers. Chefs work closely with the garden team, deepening their connection to the landscape as they harvest ingredients and bring them straight into the kitchen. Nothing goes to waste: vibrant summer crops inspire fresh, seasonal menus, while forward‑thinking preservation ensures the flavours of Flock Hill carry through the winter months. No matter the season, guests can expect dishes rich in flavour, crafted with native ingredients and nostalgic techniques that create a distinctly New Zealand expression of fine dining.

Reboard your helicopter for a scenic return flight back to Christchurch.
